Sunflower Farm Kids Programs

Education is at the heart of Sunflower Farm’s mission and has been since 2005. The programs are geared toward early-childhood and school-age learners and help kids better understand and appreciate the natural world.  The Sprouthouse Preschool for kids ages 3-5 gets children acquainted with farm animals for the first time, teaches them about compost, helps them harvest sunflowers, and much more. The school-age farm program for kids 5-8 is also primarily outdoors, but lets kids start to carve their own path on the farm. It’s a self-directed program that lets children pursue their interests and dive deeper into life on a working farm.

Farmfest

Although Sunflower Farm is an educational farm, there are hours set aside for the public to visit on weekends. People of all ages can interact directly with goats, sheep, llamas, cows, alpaca, chickens, and horses. Visiting the farm animals is enough to tempt most people, but that’s not all Sunflower Farm has to offer. There’s a John Deere tractor and an old airplane to explore, sandboxes, tire swings, bicycles, and haybales. During colder months you can toast marshmallows by a bonfire and in warmer months you can enjoy water activities. Farmfest at Sunflower Farm is a great way to get outside and experience the best nature that Longmont has to offer!
